Stop Smoking Befriending Project
The Stop Smoking Befriending
Project provides free
confidential one-to-one support and encouragement
to help people quit smoking. The fully trained volunteers
will provide that extra bit of support that some
smokers need, whether it be in person, over the phone,
or a combination of both.
Former smokers who join the project can also access
stress relief and stress management services at the
Royston Stress Centre.
All befrienders involved in the Project are non-smokers
or ex-smokers. All befrienders have completed volunteer
training on issues relevant to stopping smoking,
including Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), listening
skills and confidentiality.
