Holistic
Complimentary Therapies provided to help relieve
and manage your stress
At your first appointment at the centre you will
meet your stress therapist who will assist you
to identify more clearly how stress is affecting
you and, help you to clarify your goals, and identify
your needs. Once your treatment programme has been
agreed, it may include a number of therapies, tailored
to meet your needs and achieve your goals. These
therapies may include counselling, therapeutic
massage, relaxation and reiki.
Counselling
The counselling process is unique to each individual.
Our approach however can focus on problem solving,
exploring a problem in more depth to uncover the
underlying cause and supporting people as they
process their feelings and develop an ability to
manage them.
Relaxation
Making time for personal support is important.
Focussed relaxation teaches people how to relax
and how to hold onto relaxation under stressful
situations.
Massage
Through therapeutic massage,we learn where we
are holding tension in the body and work towards
releasing it.This can be a very rewarding and nourishing
treatment. For those nervous about a full body
massage or getting undressed,we also offer hand,
foot and face massage.
Reiki
It’s not just traumas that upset our lives;we
all get out of balance with events in our everyday
lives at some time or another. Reiki is a form
of healing which helps balance our body’s
physical, mental and emotional energy.Therapists
use touch to channel and rebalance energy that
has become blocked, allowing our brains and body
to function freely.
All our practitioners are professionally trained
in their field, insured to practice and affiliated
to the appropriate ethical and/or professional
body.
Outreach Services
If you can’t make it into the Adult Stress
Centre or if you’d like to try out some of
the ways we work before you begin a treatment programme,
then our outreach service can help you. In
different venues in and around the community we hold
weekly one to one sessions in massage and relaxation. We
also run a variety of groupwork programmes.
The outreach sessions are another great way for
you to access our service and some people even use
the outreach service as a way of keeping in touch
with us after they’ve completed their stress
relief programmes at Adult Stress Centre.
Look out for posters and leaflets which will tell
you all about the outreach sessions delivered by
Adult Stress Centre therapists. For an up to
date copy of the outreach timetable and more information
about the service click here

If you are an organisation who also work with local
