As part of Royston Stress Centre, the Youth
Stress Centre offers an outreach service to 11-18
year olds in North Glasgow. Our aim is to support
the empowerment, and improve the mental health of
young people, and through early intervention and
prevention programmes work to reduce the risk(s)
that might lead to mental ill health. We
work with young people to help them recognise and
develop the emotional tools and capabilities to deal
with life.
Through our young person centred approach
we work with vulnerable young people (and with parents)
in various school and community settings. An
example of this is where we have teamed up with local
schools to promote emotional and intellectual growth
in tandem offering counseling and specialist Emotional
Literacy group work programmes.

What is Emotional Literacy?
Broadly it is the ability to understand and talk
about feelings and to be aware of the impact this
can have on not just one life but on the lives
of those around you.
Working with young people we
help them to recognise and manage their own feelings
and to empathise with their classmates and others
involved in their lives.

Our Approach
Each young person is recognised as an individual
with unique needs and interests.
We believe in empowering young people, providing
opportunities to gain more control of their lives
and enhance and unlock their potential.
We involve
young people in the planning and development of
